Vegans and omnivores alike will enjoy fulfilling their protein needs with delicious, nutrient-dense, all-organic Vegan Protein Bars. While Chocolate Peanut is smooth and sweet (think: vegan peanut butter cups!), Almond Cacao is subtly roasted with just a touch of salt. Both flavors offer a potent blend of healthy, organic pea and Sacha Inchi protein. Like Raw Energy Hammer Bars, they’re non-GMO, soy, and grain-free.
Q: I’ve noticed a white/grey film on the chocolate coating on some of my Hammer Whey Protein Bars and Chocolate-Peanut Vegan Protein Bars, and occasionally on the chocolate-containing flavors of Hammer Bars. What causes this and are they okay to consume?
A: The appearance that you see on the chocolate coating of the protein bars, as well as on the chocolate-containing flavors of Hammer Bars, is due to the natural composition of the chocolate coating and the likelihood that it was shipped in warm weather and/or sitting in a warm delivery truck.
This effect is called “blooming” and it’s when the oils separate and then harden. There are chemical emulsifiers that prevent this, but since the blooming effect is completely harmless—and also because we don’t want to put unnecessary chemicals in the product—we opted to not use emulsifiers. The bars are 100% acceptable for consumption.
Application:
Use as a pre-exercise meal, post-workout/race recovery food, or healthy snack any time.
Usage Instructions:
Used occasionally during extended workouts and races, Vegan Protein Bars are an ideal solid food choice, augmenting the other Hammer Nutrition fuels perfectly.
Notes:
Depending on the flavor, each Vegan Protein Bar contains between 220-230 calories, 18-24 grams of carbohydrates (none from refined sugar), 13-14 grams of protein, and 11-12 grams of healthy fats. When a solid food choice is desired, Vegan Protein Bar satisfies your hunger in ideal fashion without excess, empty calories.
After workouts or races, if solid food is desired, or when the use of Vegan Recoverite is not practical, Vegan Protein Bar is a superb post-workout/race food, providing high-quality carbohydrates and protein in an ideal 3:1 ratio.
