BENEFITS

Hydrolysed bovine and marine collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body, making up about a third of your total body protein. It is the main structural protein of your skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue and gut wall – no wonder it’s often called “the glue that holds us together”. Your body’s own collagen production gradually declines from your mid-twenties, by about 1% a year.

Hammer Collagen is an easy way to get collagen into your daily diet: one serving (11 g) provides about 9 g of hydrolysed collagen from two sources, made with US-sourced ingredients.

What’s inside?

  • Bovine collagen from US bovine hides – collagen types I and III.
  • Marine collagen from fish scales and skin – collagen type I.
  • 9 g of protein per serving, 0 g fat, 0 g carbohydrate and 0 g sugar. Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass, to the maintenance of muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones.
  • Two flavours: chocolate (with organic cocoa) and vanilla, sweetened with monk fruit extract.

Who is it for?

Athletes and anyone who wants to add collagen to their daily diet. It pairs well with Tissue Rejuvenator or Vegan Tissue Rejuvenator, as well as with Endurance C.

Contains fish.

HAMMER COLLAGEN FAQS

Where does the collagen in Hammer Collagen come from?

US-sourced bovine hides, plus US-sourced fish scales and skin. The collagen in the product is hydrolysed (in the form of collagen peptides) – “hydrolysed collagen” and “collagen peptides” mean the same thing.

What types of collagen does it contain?

  • Bovine collagen from US bovine hides – types I and III.
  • Marine collagen from US fish scales and skin – type I.

These are the two most common collagen types in the body, found mainly in the skin, bones, tendons and blood vessels.

How much collagen is in one serving?

One serving (11 g, 1 level scoop) contains a total of about 9 g of collagen from the two sources.

How do I prepare it, and when should I take it?

Mix 1 level scoop (11 g) of powder with about 240 ml (8 fl oz) of water. You can have it at any time of day – many people take it in the morning, after training or before bed.

Which collagen type is the most important?

Type I: it makes up about 90% of all the collagen in your body and about 30% of your total body protein. It is the main structural protein of muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues.

Bovine collagen is especially rich in proline, glycine and hydroxyproline – the characteristic amino acids of collagen.

What should I know about type III collagen?

Type III is a fibrous collagen protein. It is found in significant amounts in the skin, blood vessels, gut wall and lungs, and often occurs together with type I. Collagen molecules have a characteristic triple-helix structure.

How many types of collagen are there?

So far, 28 types of collagen have been identified, but the vast majority of the collagen in the body is type I, II or III. [1, 2]

[2] Wang H. A review of the effects of collagen treatment in clinical studies. Polymers (Basel). 2021;13(22):3868. https://doi.org/10.3390/polym13223868

Why doesn’t it contain type II collagen?

Type II collagen is the main component of cartilage – which is why it’s in Tissue Rejuvenator (as UC-II™ undenatured type II collagen) – but it makes up only a small share of the body’s total collagen. Type I is the most common (about 90%), with type III in second place.

High-quality, patented type II collagen is also considerably more expensive, so adding it would significantly raise the price of Hammer Collagen. The same goes for types IV and V, which are present in much smaller amounts in the body.

Can I take it together with Tissue Rejuvenator or Vegan Tissue Rejuvenator?

Yes, they work well together.

On top of these, Hammer Collagen provides collagen types I and III. Tip: if you take 2 capsules each of both Tissue Rejuvenator and Vegan Tissue Rejuvenator once or twice a day, you get a much broader range of ingredients than with either one alone.

Which products go well with Hammer Collagen?

  • Endurance C – vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth.
  • Amino Age – contains glycine, taurine, NAC and L-carnosine. Glycine is the most abundant amino acid in collagen.
  • Whey Protein and Plant Protein – besides glycine, they also contain two other characteristic amino acids of collagen: lysine (Whey Protein 1304 mg, Plant Protein 969 mg per serving) and proline (777 mg and 440 mg per serving, respectively).

Is Hammer Collagen kosher?

It isn’t kosher-certified yet – we’re working on it.

Is it suitable for vegans or people with a fish allergy?

No. Hammer Collagen is of animal origin (bovine and fish), so it is not vegan, and it contains fish – don’t take it if you have a fish allergy. It is made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, eggs, peanuts, sesame, crustaceans, molluscs, nuts and wheat.

HOW TO USE

Serving: 1 level scoop (11 g) mixed with about 240 ml (8 fl oz) of water.

You can have it at any time of day: in the morning, after training or before bed.

Tip: the powder mixes easily in water, but you can also add it to a smoothie, coffee or protein shake.
