Why does electrolyte replacement matter?

When you sweat, you lose more than water: you also lose sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium. These minerals are needed for muscle function and fluid balance. The Hammer approach isn't about taking as much salt as possible, but about precisely dosed, full-spectrum replacement, kept separate from calories and fluids and tailored to your own needs. In detail: Hammer Guide 4 – Electrolyte Replacement.

Which electrolyte product is right for you?

  • Endurolytes – full-spectrum electrolyte capsule with sodium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, potassium and manganese. Dosed capsule by capsule, so you can match it precisely to your workload and the weather. The go-to choice for most workouts and races.
  • Endurolytes Extreme – three times the sodium and potassium of classic Endurolytes. For heat waves, high humidity and heavy sweaters.
  • Endurolytes Extreme Powder – Extreme in powder form, watermelon flavor. Mix it into your bottle and replace electrolytes without capsules.
  • Endurolytes Fizz – electrolyte effervescent tablet that dissolves quickly in water. For shorter workouts, hot days and daily hydration.
  • HEED sports drink – carbohydrates and full-spectrum electrolytes in one drink, for efforts of up to 3 hours, with no added refined sugar or citric acid.

How to use

Electrolyte needs vary from person to person and from day to day: they depend on body weight, sweat rate, temperature and the length of the effort. Start with a smaller dose and increase it gradually in the heat or during longer efforts. You'll find the exact dosing on each product page. FAQ

Are salt tablets enough?

Salt only replaces sodium and chloride, but sweat also costs you potassium, magnesium and calcium. That's why a full-spectrum electrolyte is the better choice. Read more: Electrolyte Replacement – How to Do It Right

Do I need extra electrolytes if I drink HEED?

HEED contains electrolytes, and for shorter efforts that's often enough. For longer efforts or in the heat, you can top it up with Endurolytes capsules. Why it pays to handle energy, electrolytes and fluids separately: read our article.
